Emily is originally from Morrison, Colorado, and has cherished living there her entire life. She feels incredibly fortunate to have been born and raised in such a picturesque state, never taking for granted the natural beauty and charm that Colorado offers. She attended cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell in Denver, where she graduated as part of their inaugural class in 2011.

Emily's desire to open her own salon stemmed from her passion for more than just hairdressing. While working at her previous salon, she discovered a love for training and mentoring new stylists through their apprentice program and teaching classes to her colleagues. This experience ignited her enthusiasm for helping aspiring stylists realize their potential and grow into highly successful professionals. The fulfillment she found in nurturing talent on a smaller scale inspired Emily to envision doing it on a larger scale, prompting her decision to open her own salon.

Cedar opened its doors as a 6-chair, 800 square foot salon in 2018, marking the beginning of an exciting journey. With a focus on fostering talent and creating a vibrant atmosphere, Cedar attracted a team of talented stylists who quickly filled the space. However, as demand grew, the salon outgrew its original confines. In 2020, Cedar expanded into the space next door, transforming into a 10-chair salon. This expansion not only accommodated the growing clientele but also enhanced the salon's bustling atmosphere and upbeat vibe. Today, Cedar thrives as a hub of creativity and camaraderie, with a wonderful staff who support each other through every step of the journey.

In the prime of her hair career, she became a Bumble & bumble trained stylist - a prestigious program hosted in New York City. Emily attended their entire catalogue of color classes, along with several cutting classes, honing her skills and expertise in hairstyling. Additionally, she has participated in countless classes across the country, further enriching her knowledge and staying up-to-date on the latest trends and techniques in the industry. Currently, she dedicates more of her time to coaching and management responsibilities, gradually reducing her presence behind the chair.

During the summer months, you'll often find her enjoying the great outdoors, whether it's grilling, sipping wine on a patio, or indulging in offroading adventures in her Ford Bronco. In the winter, you'll find her on the slopes of Keystone Resort for some skiing action. When she's not out and about, she retreats into full hermit mode, cuddling up with her dogs and cats at home. Living a charmed life with her husband and furry companions brings her immense joy and fulfillment outside of work.
